From arsenic in clothing, to blazing crinolines, to lead in cosmetics, throughout history, we have worn deadly clothing and makeup to be at the height of fashion . . . even if it kills us. Textile and fashion historian Dana Bala will present a lively talk on some of the most lethal fashion practices in history, focusing on the Victorian and Edwardian periods, when people were literally “Dressed to Kill.”
After the presentation, attendees will receive a list of references to help them further explore this fascinating topic.
The event will be held online via Zoom. Registrants will receive the link in their confirmation message.
Tickets are $5 per person. To register, visit https://kingsland_manor_presents_dressed_to_kill.eventbrite.com.
