Victorian Doll

In 1982, Eleanor Storer donated a Victorian doll to the Kingsland Manor. Eleanor has donated many artifacts to the Manor, including a Betty lamp and a “Seth Parker” clock.

Eleanor Storer of Lakewood, New Jersey, was a past president and a longtime member of the Kingsland Manor. She was also the author of the children’s book Abrigail’s Tales of Nutley.

Eleanor was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1910. We believe that she moved to Nutley in the 1930s. She was a president of the Women’s Guild of St. Paul’s Congregational Church in Nutley, as well as a member of the Nutley Chapters of the Tri-Town Business and Professional Women, the Red Cross Board of Directors, Meals on Wheels, and the U.N. Council in Nutley. She was a founder of Harrowgate Retirement Community in Lakewood, New Jersey. Eleanor passed away in 2013 at the age of 102.

The doll is “21 inches tall; blonde hair; dressed in Victorian style dress—brown figured materials and a hat.” The face, hands, and legs appear to be bisque (a type of china). The doll is displayed upstairs in the Child’s Bedroom.
