May Open House Tours and Teapot Presentation

Karen Goddard, collector of fine Hall Company teapots, will be giving a talk on her collection at the Kingsland Manor this Sunday, May 21st, during our regular house tours.

Tours begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m.

Karen will make her presentation at 2 p.m. in the Ballroom and will be available for questions during the tour hours.

The Hall China Company is celebrating its 120th year in the manufacture of teapots. Early on, Hall rediscovered a pottery technique, first developed during the Ming Dynasty in China (1368-1644), which allowed him to produce non-lead glazed china with a single fire process. The process created brilliant colors of glazed china that were strong, non-porous, and craze proof.

Karen will speak of the various designs, artistic styles, and colors created, highlighting a dozen teapots from her personal collection, and will display vintage advertisements from the Hall company.

Tours are free, but donations are gratefully accepted and will be applied to our scholarship fund.

The Kingsland Manor is located at the corner of Kingsland Street and Lakeside Drive. Entry and parking are on Lakeside Drive.
